Sea Buckthorn Berry – Anti Aging, Healing, Vitamin Super Berry
Hippophae rhamnoides – Sea Buckthorn Berry
Crows mainly in China, Russia, Scandinavia and Northern-Europe
It has been used for centuries in Europe and Asia. Recently, it has attracted considerable attention from researchers around the world, including North America, mainly for its nutritional and medicinal value.
Sea-Buckthorn berries are multi purposed, edible and nutritious, though acidic and astringent to eat raw, it can be frosted to reduce the astringency and/or mixed as a juice with sweeter substances such as apple or grape juice.
When the berries are pressed, the resulting Sea Buckthorn juice separates into three layers: on top is a thick, orange cream; in the middle, a layer containing sea-buckthorn’s characteristic high content of saturated and polyunsaturated fats; and the bottom layer is sediment and juice. Containing fat sources applicable for cosmetic purposes, the upper two layers can be processed for skin creams and liniments, whereas the bottom layer can be used for edible products like syrup.
Bio-active substances in the oil from the seed and pulp are used in a variety of dermatological applications, among them anti-aging face creams and lotions and (since the extract seems to absorb UV rays) in sun care products. Sea Buckthorn extracts can actually improve metabolism and retard skin maturation, thus slowing the aging process, it promotes cell tissue regeneration, thus aiding in the healing of wounds, and restoring skin tissue. mostly because of the effects of its high levels of Vitamins A and E.
Sea Buckthorn oil is said to have proven effective in the treatment of skin conditions including burns, skin ulcers, cancer, acne and dermatitis of various forms.
It’s oil has been used by cosmonauts for protection against radiation burns in space.
Current research indicates that not only does it enhance immune activity and disease resistance, but it also destroys harmful free radicals found in our bodies

2. Sea Buckthorn is also high in protein, especially globulins and albumins, and fatty acids such as linoleic and linolenic acids.
3. Vitamin E content in sea buckthorn (202.9 mg/100 g fruit) is higher than wheat embryo, safflower, maize, and soybean.
Medicinal uses of sea buckthorn are well documented in Asia and Europe.
The most important pharmacological functions attributed to sea buckthorn oil are:
1.Anti-inflammatory
2. Antimicrobial

6. Skin ulcers caused by malnutrition, and other skin damage.
More than ten different drugs have been developed from Sea Buckthorn in Asia and Europe and are available in different forms, such as liquids, powders, plasters, films, pastes, pills, liniments, suppositories, and aerosols.
In Europe and Asia, there are numerous products made from Sea Buckthorn, such as tea from leaves, beverages and jam from fruits, fermented products from pulp

Acai is a better bet than Goji. There has bee much more scientific research done to prove its health effects. However the acai berry starts self destructing within minutes of being picked so you loose most of the antioxidants that are part of the berry before it makes it back to the united states for processing so most smoothies are using berries that have lost most of there health benefits.
There is only one way to get the full benefits of the acia berry and that is through a patented flash freeze process developed by Monarch Industries. They use this process to preserve the vital antioxidants until they can get the Berry’s back to the states for processing into a blending drink called Mona-vie.
Mona-Vie has a combination of 19 fruits and berries with the acai berry from the Amazon as its star. The results people are getting from drinking this are nearly miraculous, unique to each individuals health complaints and life changing. My own 59 year old father has had sleeping problems for over 20 years and started taking monavie pulse about 3 months ago and my mother is now stating the he is sleeping much better.
You won’t find it on any grocery or pharmacy shelf or in any health food store. It is sold by independent distributors. And I am a distributor. Check out my web site @ http://www.monavie4less.com YOU WILL BE GLAD YOU DID!!!! Live Abundantly

Sea buckthorn Berry seems to be a perfect healing fruit. Reading your post, I was thinking abour rain forests. They are being burned, destroyed. People are so stupid! There’s a lot of natural resources not even discovered, so many endangered species. Amazon rain forests are the huge bag of wisdom, health sources……and we’re destroying them. Who tells me why human beings are so stupid??
January 8th, 2009 at 13:24
Hello Tom and thanks for stopping by. You are right Sea Buckthorn Berry is most definitely very much of a healing fruit and it truly works. I understand your point about the stupidity of destroying the rain forest. Not being educated of how huge health sources the rain forests are bring about the stupidity and a motivation that does not promote living in harmony with ones environment.

What a powerful berry. I often wonder if acne is more of a problem in the world we live in now than it ever was in more ancient times. since our diets have moved away from natural oils and berries–we eat so much more fat and grease in these days that our break-outs are all the worse.
I wish i could grow this berry in my backyard!

Hello Linda, I do think you are right about acne being more of a problem now a days due to diets that contain processed foods and fatty foods.
As to growing this berry in your backyard I guess it would depend on if you live in a climate that is close to Scandinavian climate then perhaps it could be possible

Excellent article, I wonder if the oil could be used for skin conditions such as prurigo nodularis. It’s bassically a minifestation of some auto immune thing, where the skin has these small eruptions that are so darn itchy, it drives people insane. I have it and I have been looking for something to relieve the itching and heal the skin eruptions.
thanks for the info I will have to look into this …

Thanks for the post, very informative and I’ll definitely stop by again. I am interested in Sea Buckthorn Berry, as I’ve never heard of it before… As they are orange in color though, it seems that they would be very good for you (I’ve recently heard that all orange fruits and vegetables are full of antioxidants).
Are they bitter tasting, because I find some berries like that can taste a bit ‘tart’. And where can I buy them?

Try “Perfect Acai”. You possibly can purchase it on ebay. I’ve been using it for 2 months now. Its not a magic health supplement, however it most certainly helps. Gets rid of excess water excess weight. It’s also 100% natural acai, nothing else added. You can find a great deal of other consumers cross selling this product but with other ingredients. That is not good.
